The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were founded as an expansion team in the National Football League in 1976.  Did you know the franchise had a name-the-team contest to come up with their moniker? The name “Buccaneers” was selected which is in reference to the pirates who frequented the Florida Coast during the 17th century. As of 2021, the Bucs have won the Super Bowl a total of two different times, first in 2003 against the Las Vegas Raiders, and the second one coming in 2021 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The history of the franchise is littered with legendary players such as Derrick Brooks, Mike Alstott, Mike Evans, Lee Roy Selmon, Warren Sapp, and countless others. Their impact on the game can be measured in numerous ways such as revenue, endorsements, and memorabilia. Recently, we’ve discovered that some of these Bucs’ jerseys have been sold for high amounts. 5. Mike Alstott Signed Jersey – $65

Mike Alstott’s playing style made him a very unique player for the Bucs. 4. 2002 Warren Sapp Game Worn Jersey – $240

Warren Sapp was one of the NFL’s most dominant players during his prime of his career. Sapp was named to the all decade teams for the 1990’s and the 2000’s, he also won the Defensive Player of the Year Award in 1999, and he also was able to secure four All-Pro first team appearances throughout his career. Sapp was also a key contributor to the Bucs Super Bowl Championship win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Sapp’s jersey was sold as part of the Heritage Auctions as part of the Spring Sports Collectibles Catalog Auction. The jersey was sold for $240, and it was sold on May 9th, 2020.

3. 2005 Derrick Brooks Game Worn and Signed Jersey – $776

Derrick Brooks is considered to be the greatest player in the history of the franchise.  In addition, he’s considered to be one of the greatest linebackers that has ever played the game. Brooks spent his entire NFL career wearing a Buccaneers jersey, and he was also a key contributor for the Bucs Super Bowl Championship victory over the Las Vegas Raiders in 2002. Brooks is the all-time franchise leader in forced fumbles and in tackles. Brook’s jersey was sold as part of the Heritage Auctions as part of the Sports Collectibles Catalog Auction. The jersey was sold for $776, and it was sold on November 18th, 2016.

2. 1980-1984 Lee Roy Selmon Game Worn Jersey – $2,868

Lee Roy Selmon was the Buccaneers very first draft selection in the franchise’s history all the way back in 1976. Selmon had all the talent in the world and it didn’t get unnoticed one bit as the defensive end would end up being inducted into the college and the NFL Hall of Fame. Selmon was known to make everyone a better player around him and make everyone a better person, as he brought the best out of everyone. Selmon’s jersey was sold as part of the Heritage Auctions as part of an auction that was held in Dallas. The jersey was sold for $2,868 and it was sold on November 7th, 2014.

1. Mike Evans Jersey – $10,000

Mike Evans was selected by the Buccaneers as the seventh overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Evan’s incredible form has been one of the key reasons for the Bucs recent success. Evan’s is the all-time franchise leader in rushing yards, most receiving touchdowns, and most consecutive 1000 receiving yard seasons. Mike is still currently playing for Tampa Bay to this day and still has the potential to possibly break even more franchise records. Evan’s held an auction to sell his jersey, and Tom Brady’s son had the highest bid as the jersey was sold for a whopping $10,000.
