20 Things You Didn't Know about Taptap Send

send money

Have you ever heard of a company called Taptap Send? Perhaps this is something that's entirely new to you, or maybe you've been using the app for some time. Suffice it to say that it is an app that is designed exclusively to allow you to send and receive money with very little effort, provided that you are sending money to one of the countries that is supported by their current technology. You might think of it as Western Union with a major update in technology. The basis is the same, as is the end result. The difference is that it's a lot more convenient and some people would even argue that it's safer. If you want to know more about it, here are 20 things that might cause you to rethink sending money the old-fashioned way.

1. It works on both Apple and Android devices

These days, any app that is worth its salt is going to be one that works on multiple devices. This one is certainly no exception. In fact, it works on both Apple and Android devices, so virtually anyone with a smartphone is able to use the app by simply downloading it and spending a few minutes familiarizing themselves with it. That's always a good thing because it means that people are more likely to use it. No one is too keen on the idea of spending half of their day learning how to use a new app. The fact that this one is easy to use and straightforward makes it that much more likely that people will utilize it whenever they need to send money. In fact, most people say that it's much easier than sending it the old-fashioned way.

2. You can send and receive money directly from your phone

One of the things that makes it so convenient is that you can send and receive money directly from your phone. You don't even have to leave your house in order to do it. If you've ever had to find a place that utilizes Western Union or something similar, all so you could get in your car, drive there and then stand in line for what sometimes feels like forever, then you know how much easier it is to be able to do a few taps on your phone and be finished with it.

3. Currently, there are no less than six regions supported by the app

At the moment, there are six major regions that support the app, with several smaller countries that are part of those regions. For example, the app is supported in the United Kingdom, which also means that it's supported throughout England, Scotland, Wales and part of Ireland. In addition, the app can also be used throughout the United States, as well as in any country associated with the European Union. Last but not least, it's also supported in both Africa and Asia so all of those countries also fall into the category of those supported by the app. If you have questions about the specific country that you want to send money to, they have a list on their website that tells you specifically whether or not that particular country is supported.

4. They plan to add even more locations on the future

Of course, they also plan to add more locations in the future. In fact, they're constantly adding new locations. Even if the country you want to send money to isn't supported at the moment, that certainly doesn't mean that it won't be supported in the near future. As such, it's always a good idea to stay abreast of any changes because once that particular country does become supported, using this app to send money can obviously make your life much easier, not to mention cutting down on the amount of time you're spending getting this particular task accomplished.

5. You need to use a mobile money wallet to use the app

There is one caveat. In order to use the app effectively, you have to have your mobile money wallet activated on your phone, as does the person that you're sending money to. That's the way that the app utilizes the money in your account so if you don't have that activated, it won't be able to access the funds. This isn't a problem for most people because so many people already use their mobile money wallet for various things. If you're not familiar with it, there's a section on the company's website that will walk you through it. Of course, you can also get information from the company that supports your particular smartphone as well as your own bank in order to learn as much about using your mobile money wallet as possible before you actually allow any funds to change hands.

6. You can ask to be notified when they add new countries

One of the best things on their website is that they allow you to ask to be notified whenever they add a new country to their list of supported countries for the app. Do you have someone that lives in a country that isn't currently supported by the app, yet you want to be able to use it if and when that country does become supported? All you need to do is ask to be notified. That eliminates the need to constantly check the website in order to see whether or not changes have been made. As soon as changes are made, they'll let you know.

7. The app is designed to make sending money as convenient as texting

One of the truly special things about this particular app is that it's designed to be as easy to use as possible. Fortunately, the designers did a very good job of accomplishing that goal. Because of their hard work and dedication, it's about as easy as texting someone. It also takes roughly the same amount of time that it would take to send a very short text. All you have to do is go to the app and type in the recipient's name and phone number, along with the amount that you wish to send. It really doesn't get any easier than that. As a matter of fact, it's so straightforward that it’s easy to use, even for those individuals who consider themselves to be technologically challenged.

8. The money transfers also happen instantaneously

Another benefit of using the app is that the money transfers happen immediately. Almost as quickly as you hit the send button, the person on the other end receives those funds in their own mobile money wallet. That money can then be transferred to their bank account or to a specific debit card. When it's all said and done, it's a lot better than wiring money to someone and then waiting for a predetermined amount of time to see whether or not they actually received it. It's also better when you're the person on the receiving end because if you need money right away, you don't have to sit around and wait with bated breath in order to see if your funds are going to come through or not. It all happens very quickly.

9. They add an extra $10 to the amount you send the first time you use the app

The company even throws in a little extra by adding $10 to the amount that you send the first time you use the app. It's not a lot, but it's certainly better than nothing. When you consider how many people are using the app, it's quite a commitment on the company's end, but it's also a show of good faith to their customers, plus it gives the person receiving the funds a little extra that they weren't expecting. Sometimes, every little bit helps so even an extra $10 is a good thing.

10. They don’t charge exorbitant fees

One of the best things about the app is that they don't charge a ton of fees. As a matter of fact, their fees are so low that they basically only cover the bare minimum and this in turn allows the company to stay in operation. In some cases, they don’t charge any fees at all. If you've ever used Western Union or something similar, you can bet that you'll be paying a lot more in fees to use those services than you will to use this one.

11. Even their exchange rate is low

One of the hidden costs associated with wiring money to other countries involves the exchange rate. Companies like Transunion and Western Union have a habit of charging you an enormous exchange rate fee in addition to all of their regular fees. They're not always entirely upfront about all of these fees, either. There is an exchange rate fee here too, but it's extremely low. The best part is that everything is laid out for you so that you know ahead of time exactly how much you will be paying in fees depending on the amount of money that you're sending and the location you're sending it to. It's all mapped out on their website because those amounts will obviously vary depending on the country in question. The good news is that you're not going to get hit with anything you're not expecting ahead of time.

12. Their app is safe and secure

Of course, the app is safe and secure. One of the things that most people are typically concerned about with these types of things is whether or not the app can be hacked into so people can get a hold of your personal financial information. The app has several layers of security, making such a thing highly unlikely. The truth is, most people would agree that it's more secure than using any of the traditional methods to wire money.

13. They just received $13.4 million

Any company that is able to receive millions of dollars in funding is worth at least taking a second look at and this one just received $13.4 million in order to further enhance their app. Even if you weren't sold on using it before, this should be enough to make you at least consider the possibility that they know what they're doing. Otherwise, they would never have been able to receive this much in funding.

14. The app was designed with certain markets in mind

This particular app was designed to help individuals in some of the poorest countries in the world. As such, you can send money to countries such as Madagascar and others like it. It marks the first time that such an app has existed which targets countries that aren't already economically well-developed.

15. They’ve experienced massive growth in the last year alone

It's almost unheard of, but the company has grown to be five times bigger in just the last 12 months alone. Most companies can only dream of accomplishing such growth in such a short amount of time. This speaks volumes about not only the market that the company has entered, but the way it's being operated as well.

16. They adjust their costs depending on the country in question

One of the things that really makes the company stand out is that they adjust their costs depending on the country in question. In other words, they charge slightly more for countries that are receiving funds when they are already well established from an economical standpoint and then charge far less to recipients receiving money when they live in a country that doesn't have the economic security that many other places do. In short, this allows people who need the money the most, an opportunity to get it without being charged left and right in order to do so.

17. People tend to send smaller amounts with them because they don’t have to pay big fees

In addition, people have a tendency to send smaller amounts of money more frequently because they don't get stuck with all of those expensive fees every time they send something. This is extremely helpful to both the sender and the recipient, largely because it means that people aren’t waiting around for a larger money transfer that's only going to come once in a while.

18. It’s designed for immigrants

In reality, this is a company that is designed almost exclusively for immigrants. Those are the individuals that the app’s developers had in mind when they designed it. It's meant to allow people who have immigrated to other countries an opportunity to send money back home without being poked and prodded by one fee after another in order to make sure that their loved ones are being taken care of.

19. The company is based in the UK

Not surprisingly, the company is based in the UK. This makes it easy for them to conduct their operations around the world. As a matter of fact, they have an office that's located in London. That said, they are very quickly becoming a global company.

20. They keep their overhead low

Despite the fact that they're growing at a breakneck pace, they keep their overhead as low as possible. As such, they only have about 50 to 100 employees. When you consider the amount of business that they do, it's not a huge staff. Fortunately, it's enough to get the job done because everything is handled digitally.
