The Five Best Harley Davidson Models of the 90s
Who doesn’t love Harley Davidson motorcycles? It doesn’t even seem to matter whether or not you spend a lot of time riding, there’s just something about these motorcycles that causes everyone to fall in love with them. They look great and they perform as well as they look, there’s no doubt about that. However, there has to be something more because people have a tendency to flock to virtually any motorcycle made by Harley-Davidson. Maybe it has something to do with the nostalgia that is associated with them. A lot of people do think of them as the quintessential American symbol. Whatever your reason for loving Harley-Davidson motorcycles is, enough exceptional models were made during the 1990s that it’s worth revisiting the top five. Who knows, one of the models on the list might be an old favorite of yours or maybe you’ll fall in love with the brand all over again.
1. 1993 Harley-Davidson FXDWG Wide Glide
This was a special edition that was produced in order to commemorate the 90th anniversary of Harley-Davidson. The bike itself was something to look at and it had enough power to perform just as well as anything else on the road. As most Harley-Davidsons go, this one was a beautiful black color with silver accents. There wasn’t anything that was out-of-this-world different about it, and that was the whole point. Since it was designed to commemorate Harley-Davidson’s anniversary, it was purposefully designed to embody all of the things that make Harley-Davidson what it is.
2. 1995 Harley-Davidson FXSTSB Bad Boy
If you think the name is catchy here, that’s not the only thing. This bike came into being as the result of two distinctly different things. It was designed to incorporate the rich history of Harley-Davidson, yet it had to be completely modern. The end result was this particular bike, which appears in every way to be a traditional Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The difference is in the way it performs and in some of the features that it offers. It’s a completely modern motorcycle, complete with all the bells and whistles. However, it looks like one of the bikes that the company might have made during the 1950s or 60s. It’s a very interesting marriage of concepts and it’s one that worked out very well in this particular case.
3. 1994 Harley-Davidson FLHTC Electra-Glide
People that love Harley-Davidson aren’t keen on the idea of purchasing a bike made by anyone else. That being said, most of the motorcycles that have traditionally been produced by the company aren’t exactly the best choices when it comes to riding long distances. It isn’t that there’s anything wrong with the bikes themselves, they’re just not made for touring. Harley-Davidson changed all of that in 1994 with this motorcycle. Designed exclusively for long-distance riding, this bike was larger, easier to handle, and much more luxurious. It had everything it needed to make a long ride comfortable and Harley-Davidson fans rejoiced again and again.
4. 1998 Harley-Davidson FLHRCI Road King Classic
This was a bike that was completely trimmed out so it looked great and it offered a serious upgrade when it came to performance, thanks to a V-twin engine with fuel injection. When it was all said and done, it became one of the premier Harley-Davidson motorcycles of the 1990s and it remained popular well into the next decade.
5. 1997 Harley-Davidson FLSTF Fat Boy
In the 1990s, Harley had the Bad Boy and they had the Fat Boy. The model that came along in 1997 was actually a revitalization of an earlier model that was popular in 1990. Just as the name implies, the bike is a little larger than most Harley-Davidson models, and that seemed to be something that aficionados had been hoping for, for quite some time. As a result, this is a bike that still commands a big price today because of its overwhelming popularity.
There is no question that Harley-Davidson is one of the staples when it comes to American-made motorcycles. As a matter of fact, it’s interesting to note that this is a company that almost everyone is familiar with, even when they don’t have any riding experience whatsoever. Even people who wouldn’t consider themselves experienced motorcycle riders understand the significance of this brand. As a result, many of the motorcycles the company made during the 1990s and other decades are still highly sought-after today, even as new models roll off the showroom floors.
