A Closer Look at Tiger Woods’ Yacht “Privacy”

Privacy - Tiger Woods Yacht

Tiger Woods changed the face of golf. He was the reason why the sport garnered a renewed interest even from those that had no interest in it before. That was in 1996 when he turned pro. It’s been over two decades now, and the professional golfer is still going at it. Sure, he’s been through rough times in his career, but he continues to work hard in order to still be the golfer that everyone has admired all these years. Because of his hard work and dedication to his craft, Tiger’s net worth is an astounding $800 million. Sure he’s got a house in one of the richest towns in Florida, but what’s impressed us more is his yacht Privacy. He’s definitely living and enjoying the boating community he moved into back in 2010, and we’re going to take a closer look at the yacht that’s allowed him to do so.

The Yacht

Over the course of his career, Tiger has made over $1.2 billion USD in earnings. That’s really how he can afford his superyacht that’s currently valued at $20 million (also the purchase price). It’s a lot of money for the average person, but it’s basically chump change for the PGA Champion. Tiger uses his yacht quite often, especially after his tournaments. It’s the perfect retreat spot for him. Considering that he lives in an area where people normally vacation, you can imagine that Tiger’s probably on his yacht quite often. The yacht is called Privacy, and it certainly offers plenty of room to get just that. Privacy is roughly 155 ft (47 meters) in length. Just to put that into perspective, an average yacht is about 33 ft in length. Tiger’s yacht is roughly 5 times the standard yacht. Tiger’s never really talked about his yacht before, and we can gather as much from the name he’s given it. He purchased the vessel back in 2004 with his now ex-wife Elin Nordegren. In fact, the yacht was probably purchased just for their wedding. Tiger and Elin spent their wedding night aboard Privacy.

Elin decorated most of the interior of the yacht. Majority of the design choices inside and outside the yacht were also mostly Elin’s choices. It appears that Tiger hasn’t done any major changes to the yacht after the two divorced. We really can’t blame him because Privacy is made quite well—with luxury in mind. Christensen Shipyards, a company in Vancouver, Washington that specializes in custom-built yachts, made the yacht according to Tiger and Elin’s specifications. Unfortunately, Tiger filed a lawsuit against Christensen, citing that the yacht builders violated a mutual agreement that they weren’t going to use Tiger’s name to promote their business. The company apparently used Tiger’s photo and name to do exactly what they weren’t supposed to. Christensen ended up settling the lawsuit and paid Tiger $1.6 million in the process. Tiger docks his yacht at a marina close to his home in North Palm Beach, Florida. While he may have enough room in his Jupiter, Florida home for this 155-foot vessel, Tiger’s never really docked the yacht at home. It probably blocks the view too much, but his superyacht is a looker all on its own with distinctive designs around the hull. It features three levels that maximize the 6,500 square feet of living space. The vessel can sleep up to 21 people, including guests and a cabin crew. The yacht has 5 cabins that can sleep up to 10 guests, and it has 4 cabins for the rest of the crew.

Luxury

Privacy is all about luxury, and it has all the amenities you could ever think of. The boat deck features a large, gorgeous bar and a Jacuzzi designed to fit 8 people. It also has a deck dining area that can comfortably sit 12 people. The gym is a full-sized facility that has a treadmill, an exercise bike, free weights, and more. The yacht also has a three-person elevator, a walk-in refrigerator, and two built-in wall safes. The interior of Privacy is designed with modern, luxurious touches. The cherry woodwork is stunning and can be found all over the yacht. The main floor has an open floor concept, and it provides impressive views of the interior and the outdoors. The kitchen is fully equipped and is state-of-the-art. It has a clean look to it that makes you want to actually cook. But of course, Tiger’s got his crew to take care of all that.

The yacht is equipped with all the watersports equipment you can think of. There are at least 3 jet skis, 2 ocean kayaks, and even a couple of Vespa scooters available for when the guests want to explore land when Privacy is docked. It even has a decompression chamber to go along with all the scuba gear on board. The superyacht can hold up to 12,000 gallons of fuel, which really can take you anywhere you want to go. It can hold up to 2,000 gallons of water and cruises at 16 knots. Privacy’s top speed is at 18 knots and has a 4,000nm range. Everything on Privacy is about relaxation and enjoyment. This is the kind of yacht that you could never get tired of. That’s probably the whole idea when Tiger purchased this yacht as his retreat. But he does own a smaller yacht called Solitude. It’s definitely nothing compared to the size and amenities of Privacy, but why own one when you can have two? As of right now, Privacy is not available for charter nor is it available for sale. We’re thinking Tiger Woods might hold on to Privacy until he’s ready to get into an even bigger, more luxurious yacht.
