The Five Best Triumph Motorcycles of the 2000s

Triumph is Britain’s largest motorcycle manufacturer. It’s safe to say that it’s the Harley Davidson equivalent from the British, but it’s more than that. The young company may not share the accolades of the older brand, but it’s a success regardless. Many bikers love Triumph motorcycles for their style and engineering. Since the company started in 1983, it has sold over 63,000 units and counting. The brand has some of the most unique and exquisite bicycle designs that you could find in the market, and many bikers opt for the brand just for that very reason. Here are the five best Triumph motorcycles from the year 2000 and on.

Tiger Explorer 1200 (2012 –present)

This is the bike designed to rival BMW’s GS, and it does a fairly good job at that role. The Tiger Explorer 1200 is designed for comfort and durability, perfect for long-range riding and high-mileage usage. Launched in 2012, the Tiger Explorer 1200 has been one of Triumph’s most reliable models. It features a shaft drive and 1215cc triple, which gives an output of 135 bhp and an impressive torque of 90 lb-ft. It’s a smooth ride that will give you 10,000 miles in between services. It’s an impressive bike, but make sure you can handle the 260kg weight before you step into one of these.

Street Triple R (2009 – 2012)

This Triumph motorcycle may no longer be in production, but it’s still one of the most sought after Triumph models. This is due to the fact that the Street Triple R is no joke. It’s an excellent ride that will give you reliable 107 bhp—enough street power to get you going. This bike is also a handsome one. It’s very capable on the road, but make sure you watch out for those wide turns. It may not be as comfortable on the seat compared to other Triumph models; but once you’re going the distance on the bike, you’ll hardly notice. What you might notice, however, is the windblast that will hit you once you’re going full speed on this bad boy.

Tiger 800 (2010 – present)

To this day, the Tiger 800 is still considered to be Triumph’s best-selling bike. It’s an adventure bike that rivals the likes of German engineering’s BMW F800GS. It’s a much lighter fare compared to other models with its 799cc engine and output of 94 bhp. However that may be, the Tiger 800 is designed to give you the most comfortable ride of your life. You’ll lose track of the mileage when you’re on the Tiger 800, and many bikers opt for the comfort of the Tiger 800 over anything else. It also happens to be one of Triumph’s better deals financially. Given that it’s a much smaller bike in comparison to other models, it’s also cheaper.

Daytona 675 (2006 – 2012)

The style of the Daytona line is very different compared to other Triumph models. The Daytona 675 has similar stylistic components to those of Japanese sports bikes, but it is its own design in engineering. The engine of the Daytona 675 is quite strong, and since it’s more lightweight and compact in comparison, you can only imagine the speeds you could achieve with this bike. While it may not be the most comfortable bike out there, you wouldn’t exactly be riding the Daytona 675 for long cruising. This is the type of bike that will give you speed in short amounts of time coupled with precision handling and great style.

Speed Triple (2011 – present)

This is the newer generation of Triumph’s Triple line, and it’s definitely a looker. The engine is still at 1050cc, but Triumph has deliberately tweaked around the bike for better mechanisms and performance altogether. It retains everything that’s positive from its predecessor including the torque, the balance, the brakes, the exhaust, and the excellent riding position among many others. But it also has features of its own that are worth mentioning. This includes a few chassis revisions and more comfortable handling positions among a few others. The Speed Triple is exactly the kind of bike that makes bikers fall in love with the Triumph brand. It’s nothing short of impressive while on the go and even while on a standstill.
