The 20 Most Expensive Cars in the World
What is the difference between a hypercar and a luxury ride? The bells and whistles set them apart with flashy features that provide the ultimate in luxury and convenience with premium materials and unique design features.
Many of the most high-dollar cars are bespoke models, created by auto manufacturers to the specifications of the buyer, and here are the 20 most expensive cars in the world for 2022.
20. 2022 Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta
Value: $2.2 million
Ferrari’s LaFerrari Aperta is a rare Italian sportscar with just 210 examples ever made, according to Luxe Digital. 190 of the models were sold to the public, but nine of them were reserved for a special event at the 70th celebration of Ferrari’s anniversary.
That left one brand new LaFerrari Aaperta, undriven, in pristine condition. It was the last of the exclusive models to sell at an auction for $2.2 million. The sole untouched LaFerrari Aperta is the prancing horse’s champion as the 20th most expensive car in the world as of 2022.

Value: $2.3 million
The Aston Martin Vulcan is a superstar in the racing world. It’s a hard-core racing machine built specifically for track racing. It’s in the hypercar class with mind-boggling power and speed.
You won’t see one on the road because it’s illegal to take them out on a public thoroughfare. It’s a rare vehicle that is one of just 24 in its production run ever made by the British manufacturer.
The 7.0-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine generates 831 horsepower with 575 lb-ft of torque, mated with a 6-speed sequential transmission, designed to tear up the track. Its top speed is 225 mph with acceleration from zero to 60 mph in 3 seconds flat.

The hybrid hypercar is an electrified model with a futuristic aesthetic in step with the times.
No other body design exists on the market currently. Lamborghini plans to produce a total of 112 exclusive examples of the model, but it won’t happen all at once. Each production is rare from the moment of its release, fetching a price that places it firmly in the 18th position of the most expensive cars for 2022.
17. 2022 Aston Martin Valkyrie
Value: $2.6 million
Aston Martin of Palm Beach confirms that the 2022 Aston Martin Valkyrie is a powerful machine equipped with a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine with an additional electric motor for hybridization. It cranks a total of 1,160 horsepower with 663 lb-ft of torque.
The top speed is 250 miles per hour and the acceleration statistics prove it can run from zero to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds, beating the powerful racer, the Vulcan in a straight short run. The street models are likely to see governance lowering their top speed to 205 mph.
The engine is paired with a 7-speed sequential automatic tranny. Unlike the Vulcan, this version is a hypercar that is street legal. Aston Martin plans to produce 150 of them for distribution throughout the world at a price tag starting at $2.6 million. Bespoke models may go higher.
16. 2022 Mercedes AMG One
Value: $2.7 million
Mercedes-Benz joins Aston Martin in the delivery of a street-legal hypercar for 2022 with its AMG one. The One stands for its Formula One engine. Enough said? It’s been in the works for a few years and MB has finally produced a roadworthy hypercar with the power of a Formula One racer.
The hybrid drivetrain features a 1.6-liter Vg hybrid engine with four electric motors to produce 1,000 horsepower in a plug-in hybrid that moves from zero to 120 mph in 6 seconds with a top speed of 217 mph. Motor One gives that number an increase of 2 mph for the 2023 version on the horizon.

14. 2022 Ferrari Pininfarina Sergio
Value: $3 million
Ferrari’s Pininfarina Serio is an ultra-rare supercar that doesn’t get a lot of press. Each model is produced secretly and only six of them have ever been produced. It takes a process of gaining approval before a commission to build one can commence.
It’s a legacy model that celebrated Sergio Pininfarina’s design expertise in league with Ferrari. The multimillion-dollar supercar is among the most prestigious and rarest in existence. However, the 4,497 cc V8, 605 horsepower engine sprints from zero to 60 mph in 3 seconds flat.

12. 2022 Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport
Value: $3.3 million
Bugatti’s Chiron Pur Sport is a step above the Chiron. Bugatti equipped it with a quad-turbo 8.0-liter engine that achieves a top speed of 217 mph in a street-legal supercar, but it’s not a vehicle for the masses.
They made it more aggressive than the $2 million standard Chiron with sharper balance and responsiveness to make it more agile and a force to be reckoned with on the road. They cut down the bulk and made it lighter with deeper aggression for speed.
However, Bugatti will only make 60 examples of the Chiron Pur Sport, making it a rare supercar with a starting price of $3.3 million.

The tenth most expensive car for 2022 is the Pagani Huayra BC Roadster. At first glance, it takes your breath away with its sexy curves and beefy backend. The remarkable aesthetics scream power and aggression.
At $3.5 million there has to be something different that sets it apart from the crowd right? One of its outstanding features is the new material called carbon-titanium HP62, which is lighter than traditional carbon fiber.
It’s an Horacio Pagani design exclusive with an expected production run of 40 examples. There’s no need to rush to the dealership because they’re already sold out. It’s fitted with a 6.0-liter Twin Turbo V12 engine producing 791 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque. However, the top speed is 238 mph with an acceleration rating of zero to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds.

The starting price of the Sian is $3.6 million but the average selling price is $4 million. It’s a customizable collectible made available in all colors and known for those who prefer the bespoke aesthetic.
The body is carbon fiber for ultra lightness and the premium seats and interiors can be customized to match the preferences of the buyer. However, the top speed is 217 mph and the powerful engine moves from a standstill to 60 mph in a fraction under 2.8 seconds.

Loaded within an 8.0-liter-engine, adorned with four turbochargers, and a host of bells and whistles, a dorsal fin, lighter frame, and upgraded suspension, it’s a powerhouse that generates 1,500 horsepower with a top speed of 236 mph and acceleration of zero to 62 mph in 2.4 seconds. However, only 40 Divos will be made, and the model is sold out.

Value: $9 million
Bugatti upped the ante with another sibling in its 2022 collection. The Centodieci is the second most expensive car in its lineage for 2022. What makes it so grand?
Christiano Ronaldo, a football star, could answer that question as he is the buyer who purchased the last available car of the exclusive and strictly limited run of 10 in production.
With just ten ever made, it’s a rare supercar that will only increase in value. The Centodieci has a Quad-turbo W-16 engine that generates 1,577 horsepower. It’s a tribute car to the EB110 model from the 1990s. It accelerates from zero to 63 mph in 2.4 seconds with a top speed of 236 mph. However, t’s not as fast as the Chiron, but the aesthetics are modern and aggressive. Ten buyers were willing to pay $9 million apiece.
5. 2022 Rolls-Royce Sweptail
Value: $13 million
Rolls Royce has the fourth most expensive car for 2022 with its Sweptail. The model began as a special request for a bespoke vehicle. It became a global sensation that Rolls-Royce couldn’t overlook.
It’s perhaps one of the most beautiful vehicles in the world, not for its speed or agility, but for its vintage appeal to a time of high-dollar vehicles for the privileged that dates back to the glamor of the 1920s and 1930s eras.
There’s something romantic about that era, and Rolls captured it in its upper-end automotive masterpiece, the Sweptail. The original is a one-off vehicle that is unimitable. It maintains its place as one of the most expensive cars in the world.
We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention that the vehicle features a 6.75-liter twin-turbo V12 engine with a top speed of 150 mph. However, it’s still in production, but the whereabouts of the original are currently unknown.
4. 2017 Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta

3. 2019 Bugatti La Voiture Noire
Value: $18.7 million
The 2019 Bugatti La Voiture Noire is the third most expensive car in the world today. It shouldn’t be confused with the budget version that sells for $3.3 million. 2019 is just under $19 million.
It’s a full boat with an 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine mated with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, and it generates 1,500 horsepower. However, the top speed is 260 mph. Its acceleration moves the Black Car from zero to 60 mph in 2.4 seconds.

2 of 3 Boat Tails have launched in 2021, and 2022 with a third and final production not yet announced. However, it’s a coach-built version based on the Wraith platform with suicide doors, more closely related to the eighth-generation Phantom.
1. 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO
Value: $70 million
The most expensive car in the world for 2022 is the 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO. This Ferrari is the second consecutive year that it’s taken the honors. Nothing comes close to the $70 million value of this vehicle.
It’s the winner of the 1964 Tour de France and one of 36 ever created from 1962 to 1963. The car has historical significance as a participant in the Le Man’s race, placed on the podium. For its time, the top speed of 174 mph was phenomenal.
It’s the most valuable car in the world for now, and we don’t have any indication that there’s a challenger on the horizon. However, Ralph Lauren is the fortunate owner of this gem.
